Recycling Technology for Lithium-Ion Batteries: Our Solutions

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have become ubiquitous due to their high energy density and other advantages. However, when they reach the end of their life cycle, they pose safety risks and environmental threats. At the same time, they contain valuable metals, making their recycling highly profitable.

There are three main recycling processes: pyrometallurgical, hydrometallurgical, and combined pyrometallurgical-hydrometallurgical. The pyrometallurgical process involves high-temperature reduction smelting. It can quickly process a wide range of raw materials with minimal pre-treatment. But it only produces an enriched alloy initially, and the recovery of lithium and manganese becomes difficult. Also, it generates harmful gases.

The hydrometallurgical process is the most widely studied and used. It includes pre-treatment (such as discharging, disassembling, and separating electrode materials), wet leaching (using chemical or biological methods to extract valuable metals), and metal recovery (purifying and separating metals through multiple steps). It has low investment, high flexibility, and high metal recovery rates.

The combined pyrometallurgical-hydrometallurgical process combines the advantages of both. It first uses pyrometallurgy to remove organic components and convert the materials into a form more suitable for leaching. Then, it uses hydrometallurgy for further separation and purification. This process reduces metal loss and improves efficiency.

As a manufacturer of shredders and lithium battery recycling equipment, we offer solutions tailored to these processes. Our shredders can effectively break down LIBs during the pre-treatment stage. Our recycling equipment is designed to support various recycling methods, ensuring high-quality, efficient recycling of lithium-ion batteries. Our products can meet your needs and contribute to a more sustainable future.
